On behalf of the Teaching and Learning Observation College (TLOC), this digital badge has been awarded for leading 6 or more observations or professional dialogues in 2023/24. TLOC Associates at the University of Nottingham demonstrate a deep commitment to the professional development of others and self through the observation of teaching and facilitation of professional dialogues. They lead growth-oriented reflective conversations across disciplines, professions and international campuses and use coaching approaches or techniques to help individuals arrive at clear, constructive insights which support continuous learning and enhance practice. Core competencies include reflexivity, empathetic and active listening, emotional intelligence attuned to verbal and non-verbal cues, and the ability to probe with insightful questioning. The afore-mentioned skills and behaviours are crucial in fostering Conditions for Learning–such as trust, inclusivity, psychological safety, vulnerability, and accountability–that underpin meaningful peer-to-peer reflective practice and positive change. TLOC Associates play a critical role in sustaining and enhancing the University's learning organisation ethos (learning to learn together), contributing to the professional development of their peers (and self), and supporting the University’s broader strategic goals.
